Flight Deal: US to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland from $449 Round-Trip
The Northern Lights, snow sports, colorful buildingsâ"if any of that sounds up your alley, this flight deal is for you. Right now, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is running a fare sale from seven U.S. cities to Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, and prices are as low as $449 round-trip. Considering similar flights are normally upwards of $850, this is a deal you don't want to miss. (You'll find less expensive Norwegian fares on Google Flights, but once you add up the baggage fees, it becomes a lot more pricey.) New York to Copenhagen starts at $449; Los Angeles to Stockholm starts at $499, as does Miami to Helsinki. Travel is available from January 10 to June 10, 2019, which means you'll be going during peak Northern Lights season (mid-October to March). Tempted? You have until Monday, October 29 to bookâ"so start planning now.
So, where should you go? You have Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Helsinki to choose from. Personally, we've really been into Helsinki latelyâ"you'll find design-forward buildings, public saunas, and a gorgeous chain of islands in the Baltic only a five minute boat-ride away, as previously reported by Traveler. (Although we'd definitely recommend saving the latter for warmer months.) Plus, newcomer Hotel St. George features a sculpture by Ai Weiwei and "Finlandâs best rye toast." Sold. Stockholm should be on your list if you're a coffee-fiend (they have a whole tradition dedicated to it called fika); Oslo's hotelThe Thief$$$The Thief just won a Readers' Choice Award for its chic design and impressive dining options. And Copenhagen certainly doesn' t need an introductionâ"try to snag a reservation at Noma, if you can. You really can't go wrong with any of these destinations: all you need to do is book.
How to book: New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, and Boston are all participating in the sale. Head to SAS's sale page and use their low fare calendar to find the best dates and prices that work for you (keep an eye out for the "Go" fares, which mark the sale prices). Some options are non-stop, others have up to two. Your carry-on and checked bags are included in the fee, and you can choose your seat as well. As for other terms and conditions, the prices listed are round-trip, and include all government fees and taxesâ"flights are non-refundable.Related Stories, hiddenRelated Stories
